I got to meet one of my Heroes: Cliff Barackman

I recently had the incredible opportunity to meet Cliff Barackman at CryptidCon in Lexington, KY, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had in a long time. After his presentation, I approached him to strike up a conversation, and to my delight, he was more than happy to chat. What unfolded was a meaningful and eye-opening discussion about the world of Bigfoot research and the exciting work happening in the field. Especially his work at setting up the North American Bigfoot Center

One of the things I appreciated most was Cliff’s willingness to share insights about some of the field researchers he believes are doing groundbreaking work. He even gave me a list of names to keep an eye on, which I plan to follow closely. It’s always fascinating to learn about the up-and-coming researchers and the contributions they’re making to the study of Bigfoot. Cliff also helped me see a different perspective on someone I asked him about, and his knowledge really helped deepen my understanding of the field. More on that in another article.

Of course, I couldn’t miss the chance to ask him about the North American Bigfoot Center (NABC), which has been one of the most exciting developments in the Bigfoot community. Cliff enthusiastically told me about the collections he has already curated for the museum, and he shared that there are six more collections he’s in the process of acquiring. These collections, according to him, will be valuable additions to the museum and the study of Bigfoot as a whole. I didn’t get a chance to hear about all the details of these upcoming acquisitions, but I left the conversation feeling even more excited about the future of the NABC. Janice immediately told me I am getting a subscription to the NABC for Christmas. Surprisingly it is only $6 a month. I am totally excited about this. One of the things that stood out to me about Cliff is just how genuine he is. He’s not just a great researcher and curator; he’s also a kind and down-to-earth individual. It’s clear that he deeply cares about preserving the history and evidence of Bigfoot research, even the more obscure collections that might otherwise be lost to time. I truly believe his dedication to this work is going to make a significant impact on the field, helping to advance our understanding and appreciation of Bigfoot studies. Of course when I woke up this morning, I watched a few of his newest videos on YouTube, one of which was about making casts of footprints. All in all, my conversation with Cliff was an inspiring reminder of why I’m so passionate about this subject. Meeting someone who shares that passion—and who’s doing so much to preserve and promote it—was an honor. I’m excited to see where his work with the NABC leads and to follow the researchers he recommended. It’s moments like these that reignite my enthusiasm for Bigfoot research and the incredible community of people who are dedicated to uncovering the truth.
